Gin Rummy

Welcome to Poker Toker's guide to Gin Rummy.

Gin Rummy is an ever-growing niche in the online card game world and I was quite surprised to hear it had taken off with such vigor.

Gin Rummy has come along after the invention of the original game of Rummy, which is played by putting together a set of either 3 or 4 of a kind or a run of numbers in same suit such as 5, 6, 7 of hearts. Depending upon how many are playing you will be dealt up to ten cards. Everybody takes a turn either drawing from the deck one card, or picking one up from the discarded pile. First one to empty their hand wins and losers have points in their hands which are counted up. That's Rummy.

Gin Rummy is the same only once your hand has less than ten points which would be counted against you, a knock may be done which announces every player has one remaining turn before everyone must show their hands. Beware however! If another player is closer to going out than the knocker then that player wins and the knocker will have in effect beaten themselves. So use the knock carefully.

To play Gin Rummy at a card room on line I suggest visiting Rummy Royal (link to the card room is below) or if you'd first like to read a Rummy Royal review, click the link.

My Tip for Tournaments
Don't f#ck with the big stack unless you're really packed for bear because they didn't get to be the big stack by being unlucky.

I personally always prefer to be all in against anybody but the big stack because the more cards you're going to see the more chances the big stack has of drawing out on you.

They could be holding just a couple of face cards and end up drawing out against your pair of aces.

Another reason, admittedly motivated by paranoia, is that if the tournament (I usually play the sit and goes) is fixed to somehow favor the big stack (because that's who is probably cheating if there is any cheating being done) then by avoiding conflict with the big stack the chances of getting bumped out before you make it into the money are much lessened.
